This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate

Naomi Klein | 2014

I decided to major in Earth Systems after taking an introductory course on climate change and reading this book. Quite frankly, Klein’s bestseller scared the hell out of me. Like most people I was vaguely aware of the climate change threat and could recall some scattered soundbites of scientist’s warnings. But it wasn’t until I read this book that I truly learned of the grimly difficult undertaking that would be necessary for society to prevail.

“It is a civilizational wake-up call. A powerful message—spoken in the language of fires, floods, droughts, and extinctions—telling us that we need an entirely new economic model and a new way of sharing this planet.”
